How often do we take time to look at the stars and ponder on what is ‘out there’. We are all familiar with the energies of the moon, and became acutely aware during the time of the Christchurch earthquakes, and subsequent aftershocks. The moon is the closest ‘natural satellite to earth and we have grown up being taught that it governs our tides, weather patterns and gardening.
Humans are made up of about 70% water. Our planet is covered with 70% water. How can this fail to have an effect on us?
As a child, my curiosity grew as old sci-fi movies became popular (yes, I am that old!). ‘Wooden’ actors posed against cardboard sets on red earth; in the background hung a random ‘moon’ or two often in varying colours. I would look at our moon in wonder. In adulthood, I paid more attention and began looking beyond.
There are nine key planets in our solar system, each with their own characteristics and energy fields, and each having a strange, wondrous and significant effects on the earth and its inhabitants. It is so exciting to know that we actually live in a great big ‘energy soup’! Cosmic energy is flowing constantly onto earth, and also in our bodies. Lunar events have a real pull on human emotions. Each planet expresses itself differently in us, and is also woven into the rich tapestry of Jin Shin Jyutsu…something I would love to go into in future posts.
For now, I would like to make a relationship between us and the planets, and acknowledge a recent rare and significant astrological event called the ‘Cardinal Grand Cross’.
I can hear you saying ‘What is she talking about’?! Okay you may not be familiar with the title but if I ask…” How have you been feeling lately” you may appreciate the link. Have you noticed tensions rising, inexplicable unease, irritation and feeling out of your comfort zone? For many, this ‘once in a lifetime’ planetary line up was not all hype. There have been major challenges and big emotional shake-ups, especially for those who are unbalanced and not grounded in their own energy.
You may wonder if this is a bad thing? There is no good, and no bad in anything; it’s only how we perceive and react. There are always those negative fear-mongering preachers who predict this sort of thing as ‘the end of the world’. Actually they are right in a way, but the words they use to describe it, has more to do with their own personal internal fears than anything. The focus here is not the ‘end’ but the beginning; a ‘birth’ or transformation. These seeds of new energy have the potential to sprout and manifest in positive ways for years to come.
For those who have trouble letting go of ‘old stuff’ then it could be a tough time as we try to ‘hold on’ to old ways of thinking and working. Be cautious in your communications and relationship with everything and everyone. To welcome this change and growth (especially on a personal level), we can experience this as if we were a blossoming flower opening to the sun. Understanding a little more about the universe in which we live, how energy moves, and what we can do to help ourselves, will allow us a smoother journey. The denser energy of April is behind us and we move into May, with the opportunity to give time to ourselves under nurturing Taurus.
Although the effects of this cosmic event will be felt for a long while, it encourages us all to lighten up and see life through new eyes. Enjoy the change in season. Autumn is a time for slowing down, harvesting crops and stacking the wood pile. A time to think about going inside; physically and mentally; a chance to quieten the mind. Hold your ring finger and allow your breath to move freely. Reflect on the joys of summer, as we move toward winter.
Happy May everyone
